Overloading is one form of polymorphism - a form of compile time polymorphirm.

What you're talking about is overriding - a form of runtime polymorphism.

Hey Marat,

I agree... call to dijit.form.Button is undesirable here.

And dojo.parser was only until 0.4. From 0.9 onwards, dojo.parser is not at all required.

You should have required 'dojo.parser', not 'dijit.form.Button' to cause Dojo to convert the div with the 'dojoType' attribute to the appropriate widget.

Why did you need to "dojo.require('dijit.form.Button')" in the HTML file? -- You are not using the actual 'Button' widget.

Thanks,

Method overloading is not the same as polymorphism.
Polymorphism is calling animal.eat and being able to use dog.eat or cat.eat or horse.eat
not
dog.eat(bone)
dog.eat(bone,2)

Hi David,

"Visibility", truly speaking, is not strictly a part of encapsulation. That's part of "data hiding".

Encapsulation just means <strong>putting related items together</strong> - encapsulating them in a box.

Implementation of OOPS features in JavaScript has roots in Small Talk - the world's first object oriented language.

What people do is use underscores or double-underscores to indicate protected / private members.
